Birth Doula: $2100

Childbirth Education: Virtual Option $350/couple

One of the best parts of being a doula is helping families come up with a plan to navigate whatever their baby may bring them. I often say “This is your labor, it’s your baby’s birth!”

Flexibility and adaptability are two of my favorite words.

Because of the unpredictable nature of birth, I always work with a back-up or partner doula, depending on the package you choose. I’m happy to share more information about the doulas in my network.

Informed Parents Community, Doula Support and Childbirth Education

I’ve been a full time birth doula in the Ann Arbor area for five years and I’m excited to be expanding my services to the Metro Detroit area. In addition to supporting birthing families as a certified doula and birth photographer, I also offer childbirth education classes. Whether you choose to birth in a hospital, freestanding birthing center or your own home, I am ready to teach you about your options and help you fill your toolbox for the adventure.
Before becoming a doula in 2018, I worked for a large hospital system as an Obstetrical Tech. I pursued several pathways further into birth work, including a three year journey as a student midwife, before finally finding a place to settle all my skills together. I’m happiest when I’m working for YOU, not your care provider or your birth location, amplifying your voice and autonomy.

After witnessing hundreds of births, a few things became clear: no two births are the same, the modern American medical system has huge gaps in accessible care that are directly harming marginalized families, and birth isn’t safe enough until it’s safe for everyone. While there are times and places for different tools and interventions, birth is a process that shouldn’t be reduced down to just the interventions, because birth is a transformation.

In my classes, we approach planning for birth by understanding the rights of the birthing person, learning about options of care, preparing for life with a baby, and making sure the support circles are in place for your new family.

I make sure to create a safe place with my clients where we can talk through fears and concerns, practice comfort measures, and discuss all the options you have before birth comes so you can make sure you and your care provider are on the same page. Birth can and often does bring up things that might call for extra emotional support; I am committed to serving you through the framework of compassionate, trauma aware care.

When I’m waiting for that labor call, you’re probably going to find me with my four children, ages 18, 15, 14 and 10. If you invite me to be a part of your birth team, you can believe my children will be cheering you on too when your baby time comes! They help me honor every baby that comes into the world by sending me off with love to each “birthday party”, even if it means I’m missing one of their own birthdays or another holiday.
